The Village Council Committees As Established For The Calendar Year 2006

Communications Committee

Members: (Chairperson),

Purpose: To act as a liaison between Council and Village residents via available media (television, newsletters, local news and other avenues necessary to perform communications functions). To act as a publicist for the Village to insure proper notification of upcoming events and items of community interest.

Environmental Committee

Members: (Chairperson), (Co-Chairperson)

Purpose: To work with the Village Administrator and appropriate sections to formulate, review, and recommend plans of action for solid waste, recycling, composting, pollution, water management, and sediment control.

Finance Committee

Members: (Chairperson), (Co-Chairperson), and (Co-Chairperson)

Purpose: To plan, review, and recommend to Council for legislative action, all matters of Village finance, including salaries, funding, taxes, issuance of municipal bonds, and major expenses. To review department budgets and work with the Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer, Village Administrator, and department heads in matters concerning the Village budget and appropriation. All ordinances presented to the Council affecting Village finances shall first be reviewed by the Finance Committee.

Members:

Purpose: To review and present to Council and the Mayor all matters pertaining to gas, electric, public transportation, water, telephone, and other public utilities and services. To communicate for the Village with other governments and agencies affecting same. In case of energy crises or conservation, this committee works with the Safety and Health Committee and Village officials in setting Village policies and priorities.

Recreation Committee

Members: (Chairperson),

Purpose: To work with the Golf Manor Recreation Commission and present matters from this commission to Council for their decision and review. To make recommendations to Council on matters concerning Village recreation facilities, programs, and equipment.

Safety and Health Committee

Members: (Chairperson)

Purpose: To review and recommend to Council matters affecting police, fire, trash collection, dispatching, and health. To review matters submitted by the Civil Service Commission to Council affecting Village police and fire departments. To make recommendations concerning health, fire, police, life squad, and purchase of police and fire equipment requested by Council to be reviewed. To work with the Village Administrator, Mayor, department heads, and outside agencies on all matters affecting the health and safety of Village residents.

Strategic Planning Committee

Members: (Chairperson), Purpose: To research, set goals, and prioritize the programs necessary to insure the Village's sound economic base. To follow financial trends allowing the Village, as a community, to maintain its place within municipal governments in Hamilton County and the State of Ohio. To insure the housing stock and community appearance is maintained. To assist in the establishment of good Council/Business/Resident relations with the Golf Manor business community.

Streets and Highways Committee

Members:

Purpose: To work with the Village Administrator and police and fire departments to determine and review traffic ordinances, traffic control, parking, road repair, snow, ice, and cleanup, including the equipment used for road repair and cleanup. Upon review, this committee makes recommendations for Council and other Village action.
