The Village Council Committees As Established
For The Calendar Year 2011
STANDING COMMITTEES:
- FINANCE COMMITTEE:
Chairperson: Brenda Dubose
Co-Chairpersons: Lloyd Gregory Brown, Steve Gilbert
Advisor to the Finance Committee: Clerk-Treasurer/Village CFO, Gregory Doering
- Purpose: To plan, review, and recommend to Council for legislative action,
all matters of Village finance, including salaries, funding, grants, taxes,
issuance of municipal bonds, and major expenses. To review department budgets
and work with the Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer, Village Administrator, and department
heads in matters concerning the Village budget and appropriation. All ordinances
presented to the Council affecting Village finances shall first be reviewed
by the Finance Committee.
- EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
Chairperson: Donna Faulk
Co-Chairpersons: Brian Doering, Elaine Moskovitz
- Purpose: Cover all other major aspects of Village operations and report
to full Village Council/Mayor on the following:
- Communication/Public Relations: To act as a liaison between Council and
Village residents via available media (television, newsletters, etc).
- Environmental: To work with the Village Administrator and appropriate sections
to formulate, review, and recommend plans of action for solid waste, recycling,
composting, pollution, water management, and sediment control.
- Safety & Health: To review and recommend to Council matters affecting
police, fire, trash collection, and health. To make recommendations concerning
General Health, and Emergency Services, and at the request of Council, review
equipment purchases by police & fire. To work with the Village Administrator,
Mayor, department heads, and outside agencies on all matters affecting the
health and safety of Village residents.
- Economic Development: To research, set goals, and prioritize the programs
necessary to insure the Village's sound economic base. To follow financial
trends allowing the Village, as a community, to maintain its place within
municipal governments in Hamilton County and the State of Ohio. To insure
the housing stock and community appearance is maintained. To assist in the
establishment of good Council/Business/Resident relations with the Golf Manor
business community.
- Parks: To work with the Golf Manor Recreation Commission and present matters
from this commission to Council for their decision and review. To make recommendations
to Council on matters concerning Village recreation facilities, programs,
and equipment.
- Infrastructure: To work with the Service Director and police and fire departments
to determine and review traffic ordinances, traffic control, parking, road
repair, snow and ice removal, storm damage recovery and cleanup, including
the equipment used for road repair and cleanup. Upon review, this committee
makes recommendations for Council and other Village action.
- Community Beautification: To work with the Service Director in the planning
and implementation of various projects aimed at aesthetic attractions in the
Village such as streetscape projects, village entrances, pocket parks, etc.
- Laws/Code Enforcement: To work with the Service Director, Police, Fire,
and National Inspection Corporation on building, fire, and property maintenance
codes, standards, and solutions. Committee recommends, reviews, and revises
changes in zoning, codes, and ordinances to Council for Solicitor's review
and guidance.
- Education: To work closely with local educational representation and local
school districts in order to maintain and improve educational opportunities
in the Village.
- Special Events & Projects: Any miscellaneous projects that Council or
the administration deems to fall into this committee.
